ABOUT OUR OWNER:

Our Owner
Our owner lives near Anacortes, Washington with her husband, two sons, two cats, and a dog. Their house is centered on a 1.5 acre lot, partly wooded, but mostly lawn interspersed with planted areas containing evergreens, alders, native plants, and a few flowers.
Their yard is very attractive to wildlife because of all the plants and trees in their yard and also because there is a large, empty, wooded lot bordering many of the houses in the neighborhood. Besides all the birds that frequent their birdfeeders, it's not uncommon for them to see deer, rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, opossum, and an occasional coyote. Here is a list of all the birds they've ever seen in their yard: BIRD LIST

Our owner enjoys being a stay-at-home mom. She dedicates a large percentage of her time to volunteer work which, over the years, has included secretary/treasurer for the Cascade Eagles Pathfinder Club, volunteering at the Spruced Up Thrift Shop, teaching children's programs at church, and playing the piano for various music groups. Other interests include healthful living, outdoor recreation (biking, hiking, kayaking, camping), and spending time with family, all of which you can read about on her website: Mom.Floft.net. Oh, and I almost forgot the most important--geocaching!

Her husband works in Anacortes and also spends considerable time volunteering. He spends a lot of time running the audio visual for the church, serves on the board of NAARA, and also gives computer support to a missionary who is translating the Bible and other Christian books into local dialects for the people in Thailand. His hobbies include spending time with family, volleyball, ping pong, outdoor recreation (biking, hiking, kayaking, rock climbing), computers, and classical guitar.

Both boys have many hobbies that keep them plenty busy when not involved in school activities. They currently attend a Christian School. Previously, they were home schooled for 6 years.

The oldest boy enjoys amateur radio, computers, and building model airplanes. Right now he is working on some balsa wood models. He would really like to get his private pilots license someday. He is also very mechanical and would like to work on airplanes.

The youngest son loves computers and is especially fascinated with web design. That's the main reason for the "Curious Cardinals" website--it gives him practice creating websites and learning the variety of computer languages used in web design. To view his personal website, follow this link: FLOFT. Other websites he's designed include: Cascade Eagles Pathfinder Club, Spruced Up Thrift Shop, Rose of Sharon, and Sing A New Song To The Lord

GEO-BEGINNINGS:

Our owner's family began geocaching in April 2006 when the youngest son received a GPS for his birthday.

They were first introduced to geocaching about 3 years ago while attending a Bible Retreat at Camp Hope in BC. A family went out one afternoon to look for a cache and our owner's family enjoyed hearing about their adventure when they returned.

Then later that year, they went back to Camp Hope for an Amateur Radio Retreat, and a group of "hams" decided to go to the Othello Tunnels and look for a cache. Our owner's family joined the hike and laughed at the crazy things the cachers did to try and locate the cache.

Last year while on church youth outings, our owners met some families who were into geocaching big-time. These seasoned cachers told of all the adventures they had while geocaching and convinced our owners they needed to give it a try. They did and loved it and have since then had a wonderful time geocaching. They have met many interesting people while geocaching and visited many unusual places, all thanks to the geocaching.
