Travel Bugs
Each of the 8 Curious Cardinals sent out one travel bug and is watching these eight Curious Cardinal TB's travel around the USA. Since the Cardinal family was introduced to geocaching in Canada, they also sent out one TB to tour Canada. The Cardinal family loves hearing stories of the adventures of these 9 TB's and seeing pictures of all the fun places they go and the sights they see along the way. Thank you to everyone for showing us the sites and being a part of geocaching.com! It's a great hobby and a lot of fun! Thanks for all the photos also!
Summary of where each of the Curious Cardinals TB's started and where they are now:
Carol: First placed in RIP at the Crossroads in Virginia and wandered around this great state for over a year. Now she's back on the move again, visiting Florida before hopping over to the BIG state of Texas!
Carl: First placed in Trail #9 in Mississippi and traveled to Tennessee where he spent the winter. Thanks to LIZZY, Carl made a quick visit back to his home state of Washington. Soon he was back on the road traveling through several western states and even made a stop at the Groundspeak Headquarters before flying east to Florida and up the coast to Connecticut. Now he is headed west again and enjoying views of orange rock formations near Arches National Park in Utah.
Caleb: First placed in Wildwood in Pennsylvania and then traveled through Maryland, New Jersey, and Delaware before summiting the tallest mountain in Massachusetts, Mt. Greylock. He was most recently spotted in Ohio.
Caitlin: First placed in Singing Birds 2 in New York and then flew all the way to Ohio and after enjoying the "grand views" of that beautiful state, she hopped over to West Virginia, flew through Kentucky, and then decided to head north to winter in Connecticut. When winter ended, Caitlin traveled to the warmer states of Arizona and Texas, then back north to Alaska. She briefly flew to Montana before returning to Alaska. Caitlin is proud to hold the record of traveling the farthest at just over 10,500 miles.
Casey: First placed in I-40 TB Hotel & Cache - East Bound in Arkansas. He first visited South Carolina and then flew back to the south and enjoyed attending 2 events--the Alabama Open Invitational and the Central Alabama Geoholics Anonymous Meeting. He then was spotted again in a 3rd event, but he may have overdone it at the 4th Annual Alabama Birthday Celebration because he hasn't been heard from since October 2007.
Carly: First placed in Pooh Cache at the Largay Memorial Preserve in Connecticut and after touring Connecticut, traveled to North Carolina to visit the beach. Carly then headed to Maryland, but loves her new owner so much, she may give up geocaching.
Carson: First placed in Creepy Critters by the Creek in Michigan and soon joined a MaxB Tour through several Great Lakes states which included a stop to the "Big Orange Travel Bug Convention Center" where he met many other TB's. He then enjoyed some time with Geopigs before returning to Michigan. His travels then took him through Texas and Utah before returning to his home in Washington State. Mission Accomplished! 8-11-08 Carson is the first of the 8 Cardinal TB's to make it home safely! He traveled 4,579.6 miles and will wait patiently for the rest of his family to return before heading out on another mission.
Cammy: First placed in Birdsacre in Maine and has traveled around the New England states, currently in Rhode Island.
Canada: First placed in Bunny's Hideaway in Washington and enjoyed being surrounded by trees and singing birds and after touring around Washington State for a few months, he finally made it to Canada.
The Curious Cardinals have also met several Travel Bugs and below are some pictures of a few of our new Travel Bug friends.
