Geocaching Tips

  1. Don't read the hints out loud; some in the group like to find the caches without using the hints! (tip by Carl Cardinal)
  2. It is useful to have more than one GPS when geocaching with a group; makes it easier to zero-in on the correct location. (tip by Carol Cardinal)
  3. Geocaching is a great way to meet new people, make new friends, and share stories! (tip by Caleb and Caitlin Cardinal)
  4. If you can't find the cache when you're zeroed out, try looking with a radius of your accuracy factor. Accuracy Factor = Search Radius (tip sent by Christian W.)
  5. Always look for the geo-trail before bushwacking because most likely there is at least a faint geo-trail that will lead you right to the cache. (tip sent by Dellisa)
  6. Along the same line--try not to leave a geo-trail that is too obvious to the casual hiker. Some geo-trails are too obvious-- crushed grass and trampled bushes where there is no official trail. (tip sent by Dellisa)
